Sculpture by the Sea

There are many things about Australia that keep surprising me all the time and number of them just does not seem to decrease. For example, I could not imagine that it is really possible to setup an art exhibition on the beach before I occasionally got to Sculpture by the sea exhibition.

Well, I suspect there is nothing really unusual for some art events to take place outdoors, but for those who spent biggest part of life in a place which climate represents imminent danger for any kind of art except some massive bronze monuments, this sort of cultural action is still extremely exotic.

As long as I already mentioned bronze, let me to introduce this masterpiece.

Bronze women at Tamarama Beach

Temporary museum of contemporary art was set up between famous Bondi beach and Tamarama beach along 2.5 km walk connecting them, but on Tamarama beach artists virtually left no space to swimmers. This is how the beach looked above from the cliff:

Some of artworks assumed certain level of three-dimensional imagination in spectators. Indeed, it is hard to see what was the main idea in this

But as you get downstairs and have a look in front, it becomes a little bit more consistent

Right next to it an iron volunteer was sitting above observing the beach. Obviously, it was safe to swim - no sharks can slip out of his attention.

Iron lifesaver

A couple of not less iron off-duty lifesavers were posing to spectators’ cameras

Iron figures

Or they were fishermans? This thing in front of them could be a fish. Or meteorological probe. Does not matter, being made from such material it had equally miserable chances to fly or swim.

A bit further, almost at the Bondi beach, another artwork reminded us that The spoon, actually, exists!

The spoon exists!

It was almost impossible not to notice Sydney Harbor Bridge in a shell

Exclusively tuned ute was parked nearby. I bet it still can move

Pimp my ute

This guy looks very tired. I’m not quite sure what he was going to to with that heavy log (perhaps, he was just supplying wood for that ute above

The man on the following picture looks very upset about something

But kangaroo nearby looks pretty happy… well, they are careless animals by nature

The tree behind bars. Not sure what crime it committed

but it looks like executers were trying so hard while building that cage they scratched the lawn which then required band-aid:

I do not know why, but this monster made me think Dr. Gordon Freeman must be somewhere nearbyIron ant

But I couldn’t find him and did not see any traces of his favorite lever. Neither him

Wood crying man

In the meantime beasts have grabbed this helpless car. I don’t even want to think about the worst, but it is clear the car was going to be iron ants’ dinner.

Well, that’s all for now.
